Materials play the most important role in the development of a society. The growth of human civilization has further paced up with the invention of new scientific tools for man-made materials. Modern scientific and engineering methods and interdisciplinary approaches have opened various unforeseen avenues in material research and new products of significant importance have emerged.llT Mandi, which was established in 2009, identified and developed one of its core focuses on material research. To achieve these objectives, the Advanced Materials Research Center {AMRC) was founded in the year 2013, to support and nurture the requirements of materials researchers by establishing a state-of-the-art experimental facility. For the last 10 years, the center has fostered many research ideas and played a very important on catering research facilities not only to IIT Mandi but also to several research institutions and industries throughout the country. The center has fulfilled the aim of one equipment many user policies effectively for the maximum utilization on of the equipment at their best.
Advanced Materials Research Center facilities often host a variety of instrument facilities to support the research needs of multiple scientific disciplines. These instrument facilities typically house specialized equipment and instrumentation that are too expensive or complex for individual research groups to maintain. Some common instrument facilities found at Advanced Materials Research Center include: 1. Microscopy Facilities: These facilities may include transmission electron microscopes, scanning electron microscopes, and confocal microscopes for imaging and analysing materials and biological samples at the micro and nano scales. 2. Spectroscopy and Analytical Chemistry Facilities: These facilities provide access to instruments such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometers, mass spectrometers, X-ray photoelectron spectrometers, and infrared spectrometers for chemical analysis and molecular structure determination. 3. X-ray and Crystallography Facilities: These facilities house X-ray diffractometers for analysing the crystal structure of materials. 4. Materials Characterization Facilities: These facilities may include instruments for surface analysis, thermal analysis, rheology, mechanical testing, and other techniques to study the physical and chemical properties of materials. These instrument facilities often offer training programs, technical support, and collaborative opportunities to researchers, enabling them to access advanced capabilities and expertise to advance their scientific investigations. By sharing resources and expertise, Advanced Materials Research Center help maximize the impact of scientific research and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
