Establishment of Language Laboratory:

One of the primary aims of SHSS is to impart sound language and communication skills to both Graduate and Post-graduate students of IIT Mandi. The Language Lab is equipped with necessary software enables students to practice their English language skills including writing, listening and speaking. This 21-seater Laboratory is also equipped to cater to the needs of German Language Learning.Language Lab is software useful for learning a language, specifically something that is compatible to digitization. For instance languages like English, German, French or Spanish can have some programme designed through the Language Lab which would enable a learner learn by his/her and at the same time enable the teachers conduct multiple linguistic exercises and tests with students without much loss of time and without being at a loss for materials for such a learning group. We IIT Mandi established the Lab in the year 2016. At present we have been using the Lab space as an interactive medium to conduct Lab sessions for courses like English II, German II, Statistical Methods and Finite Element Methods and Visual Arts. In the Lab we have twenty-one computers which can be used for conducting Lab sessions with students in different batches.
