Orientation Session for Batch of 2024
IIT Mandi welcome all students of batch of 2024 to the campus which is situated in the lap of hills and rivers. We have arranged an introductory session for all freshers which would be extremely beneficial. This is going to be a very small, crisp and informative session, which would help you to sneak-peak into the life of IIT Mandi. The following would be the schedule of the orientation session:
Following is the schedule of your 1st three days in IIT Mandi:
Arriving of Students and Hostel Allotment.
(Hostel allotment would be taken care by the Dean Students Office. The students are requested to come to the Auditorium complex to know his/her allotted hostel details) 		2nd August, 2024 onwards
Issuing of ID Cards (to be issued from Dean (S) office, A9, Ground Floor, North Campus) 2nd August, 2024 onwards

* Parents would be allowed inside the auditorium as per the space availability. For those who will not be able to get a seat in the auditorium, a live streaming of the program has been arranged in Hall A, B, C, Auditorium complex.
A Student is required to:
- be in formal wear only
- be seated in the auditorium at his/her respective seat only, before 8:55AM.
- switch-off his/her mobile phone before the commencement of the program at 8:55AM.
- be free from all his/her necessary routines to be seated for continuous 2 hours.
- follow instructions given by staff/volunteers on spot.
- have their food in assigned mess only, for 2-3 August 2024.
-have no eatable inside the auditorium.
- cooperate with staff of the office while getting issued the ID card/hostel allotments.
-tea and snacks in Village Square
Parents are expected to:
-book their stay in the institute guest house as per availability or near-by IIT Mandi and Mandi town at their own.
-necessarily attend the orientation program on the designated place only.
-be seated at their seats during the entire program .
-cooperate with security/staff/volunteers to avoid unwanted things.
-take food in the assigned mess only.
-not litter in the campus and use garbage bin
-avoid going to the riverside (due to rainy season).
-avoid using plastic bottles for drinking water. There are water arrangements in each and every hostel/block.

Answers to expected queries from parents:
Q: By what time we should be available there on 2nd August or early?
A: The formal welcome of students has been scheduled on 3rd August, 2024. However, hostel allotment and issuance of ID Cards would be 2nd August onwards. So, it is up to parents/students only about their arrival at Mandi/IIT Mandi on or before 2nd August.
Q: Will the student get Hostel allotted on the same day i.e on 2nd August? Do we have option to choose room or its first come first serve basis?
A: Allotment of hostels/rooms would take place on the same day of arrival of students to IIT Mandi campus. It is to be taken care by the Office of the Dean Students only.
Q: In the institute guest house, is there accommodation available for parents also and for how many days?
A: IIT Mandi has its own guest house with limited no. of capacity. However, parents can book their stay in advance by communicating to the guest house directly at managergh@iitmandi.ac.in, as per availability.
Q: From where can we buy mattress, blanket, bucket and other necessary items?
A: A student can buy all essential items from one of the vendors who are available at the institute campus.
